Don't get me wrong -- I love Apple products. But seriously, I wouldn't go all out and spend a fortune just to get my hands on the new iPhone 6, which was, allegedly, sold for a hundred thousand pesos via retailers online. According to this article by Yahoo, retailers like Lazada, Kimstore, Widget City, and the Gadget Hub have made iPhone 6 and 6+ available on their websites, despite the fact that the official release of the item would still be on the latter part of the year. The prices are crazy (starts from 50k up) and is definitely far from reasonable, it being a cellphone, and it having a lower selling price by the time that it's officially launched by Apple in the country.
The most expensive selling price to date is Lazada's, wherein an iPhone 6+ costs a whopping Php117,585.00. Really, guys? Why would anyone buy an extremely expensive phone when you can wait for the launch? All the more, if you have that kind of money, you can easily fly over to the US, or ask someone from the US, to buy you one. It's priced for just $849 or around Php 38K stateside, and I seriously have no idea how they concluded to a selling price that is thrice the price of an iPhone abroad.
With that kind of amount, I could've easily bought myself a couple of phones... and a whole lot more. I've listed down 5 things I'd rather buy with my Php 117k. And it's definitely something more satisfying than a ridiculous iPhone 6+.
- iPhone 5S 32GB; Php 35,000 (Kimstore)Fine, 5s is already outdated because of the new line, but seriously, the specs of this phone is still glorious, plus it's actually relatively new. I'm definitely in love with its camera, it's slick, and it's easier to put in a pocket. A bigger iPhone might mean a better definition, but having a 5s would definitely suffice.
- Canon EOS 60D Kit; Php 30,300 (Gadget Hub)
I've been sporting my good old Canon EOS 1000D since I was in college, and if ever I had enough money to purchase an upgrade, I'd definitely use it to buy a 60D. I think it's perfect for an aspiring photographer like me, since it have the specs that a newbie and a semi-professional would enjoy. It has a shutter speed up 30-1/8000 and a maximum ISO of 6400 -- definitely a huge leap from my entry level cam that can only sport up to ISO 1200 and a shutter speed of 1/4000. If only I have all the money in the world... (sobs) - Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II & Canon EF 75-300mm f/4.5-6 III; Php 4,583 & Php 6,550 (Lazada)
With a camera upgrade comes in new lenses. Ha. - 3D/2N El Nido Package for 2; Php 13,776 (Air You Go Travels)If I have a hundred thousand or so pesos to spend on leisure, then I'd definitely book a trip to the place that I have always dreamed of visiting... Palawan. Why not go to the place where love, nature, and peace awaits, right?
- 3D/2N Singapore Package for 2; Php 27,776 (Air You Go Travels)
Visit the land of the merlion and go to Universal Studios, because WHY NOT.
Total for a new cam, an iPhone 5s, and trips to Singapore and El Nido: Php 117,985
Total amount to purchase the new iPhone 6+: Php 117,585
Total amount to purchase the new iPhone 6+: Php 117,585
Now tell me, with the difference of only Php 400, which one would you choose? You can do a lot more. Choose wisely.
