If you feel like going away from the hustle and bustle of the city, a quick getaway to Island Cove Hotel and Leisure Park in Cavite would definitely be the answer to your prayers. I've mentioned on my post before that Island Cove is more than a resort -- in fact, they own a whopping 36-hectare property, with a pool, recreational park, a bunch of restaurants, and their own Wildlife Sanctuary inside.

Today, I'd take you to a virtual tour to their food havens: Sangley Point Bar and Grill, Fishing Village, and ICafe.

First stop: Sangley Point Bar and Grill

Beef Nachos (Php 375/good for 3)

Located at the front of Island Cove, Sangley Point Bar and Grill is kind of hard to miss. This restaurant would welcome you with its wonderful international cuisine selection, mainly favoring on western dishes.

S for Sangley and S for Steak!

Pesto Spaghetti (Php 330.00)

If you are a steak-pizza-pasta kind of person, then this would definitely be the place for you. They have a rich selection of dishes, each served generously to make sure that you'd feel full and satisfied afterwards.

The Sangley Burger (Php 320.00)

One of the things that they take pride at Sangley is definitely their burger. Made from Wagyu Beef, the patties are extremely juicy, oozing with melted cheese, and topped with fresh vegetables. You could actually tell that they only use the freshest because of the crunch and the texture of the lettuce. Aside from the burger, they also take a lot of pride for their sauces, such as their beef jerky, and tartar sauce. You could mix and match it with your order (chicken, beef, or whatever you wish), or you can also ask their friendly servers for the right combination. They say it's specially concocted by their chef, adding in the right amount of flavor to compliment their dishes. It's usually served together with the ribs and the chicken, but if you wish to put it together with your burger, no one's going to stop you.

Margherita Flat Bread Pizza (Php 375.00)

Ultimately, I think what they wish to achieve with their menu at Sangley would be to serve comfort food for their visitors. I honestly think that they were able to achieve that, with the kind of menu that they are currently offering, complete with heaps of ice cream and pizzas. The meal is pretty decent and pretty affordable as well, considering that you're eating gourmet. If you are dining for two, Php 800.00 would be enough to cover your meal.

Second Stop: Fishing Village

If you feel like you want to tap the inner Filipino in you, then Fishing Village would surely be suitable for you. Eat like a king with their festive food selection and fresh seafood dishes. If you feel adventurous, you may also catch your own fish and have it cooked right there and then. The ponds are filled with fresh tilapia and bangus that you could catch using their rods. This activity is a big hit to kids, especially because there is nothing more triumphant than being able to eat what you reap.

Fresh crabs

Let the festivities, begin!

This place is perfect for those who are visiting in large groups. You can order a platter that's good for 6 people and share it with your family and friends (it's also way cheaper than ordering per "meal"). The cottages are perfect for intimate lunches, giving you the privacy that you need, without being disturbed by anyone else. If you feel like you're missing some music, their crew would be more than happy to serenade you while you enjoy your food.

Kare-kare!

Juicy mangoes, yum!

Aside from the seafood, they also offer authentic Pinoy favorites like Kare-Kare, Krispy Pata, and Bacon Barbecue among many others. A meal would be much cheaper if you come in as a group, and would only cost you around Php 300.00 per head for a full, festive meal.

Last stop: iCafe

Unlike the first two, iCafe is a little more tamed. A cozy space in the hotel lobby, iCafe offers the vibe that you'd need if you feel like reading a good book or sipping a hot chocolate after a long day.

The ambiance is very relaxing, and it actually felt wonderful to sip a cup of coffee after a nice massage from their spa nearby. They offer the usual coffee shop staples, and a very strong Kapeng Barako, enough to perk you up through the day.

Price range is from Php 200.00 up, just like the usual coffee shops in Manila.

All in all, the food places in Island Cove is way better than those of what you'll find on nearby resorts. The food is also of better quality, with gourmet chefs preparing the menu, and a variety that would suit your mood. You need not to be a guest of the hotel to eat at Island Cove. If you find yourself dead bored with the usual fast food, you may also drop by in there to just dine in. :)
