The Liebster Award (a.k.a. get to know me more)

If you've been following me long enough, then you might have seen an earlier version of this award back in 2013. By then, I haven't really taken blogging "seriously" (not that I'm taking it that serious now), and I have a very few blogger friends. Anyway, I am now doing this again, being tagged by Sara (thank you!). The rules is slightly different from the first one that I've posted, but either way, I am very, very flattered of being nominated and being remembered by my fellow bloggers. Aww.

Anyway, first things first, what really is the Liebster Award?
Liebster is a word with German origins meaning dearest, sweetest, kindest, and beloved. The Liebster Award exists only on the internet, and is an award given to bloggers by bloggers. The award is given to bloggers with less than 200 followers. The purpose of the Liebster Award is to recognize and discover upcoming talent in the blogosphere through a Pay it Forward initiative.
So, you might ask, why am I doing this again even if I was nominated a couple of months back? The answer is simple actually: (1) answering questions is a fun thing to do, (2) the rules have slightly changed, omitting the "share 11 facts of yourself" part, which make this different all the while, and (3) I really love Sara's questions, it just demands to be answered!

For those who are not familiar, here are the rules on receiving and forwarding this award:
You must link back to the person who nominated you (but cannot nominate them)
You must answer the 10 questions given to the nominee before you.
You must select 10 blogs with under 200 followers to answer your 10 questions.
With no more further ado, here are my answers!

1. Why did you start your blog?
I started blogging when I was in high school (I was 13 years old then), back when I was still clueless on what the heck was I doing. It started out as curiosity, then became an online diary. Up until now, I still think blogging is one of my hobbies, something that I like to do during my spare time. Although as of the moment, I am getting a little more serious with blogging, thinking more about my content, and being a little more critical with what I put in here.

2. What do you love about blogging?
What I love about blogging would definitely be the freedom that comes with it. It lets me share the things that are going on in my head, which are apparently, something that other people find relative to themselves as well. Despite having collaboration posts every now and then, I still try to create a relative post to everyone.

3. Where was your last, best vacation?
Come to think of it, this would definitely be my get away to Baler. It was way back in May (which I still haven't written about! Shall I write about it, then?) with a couple of my college friends. Aside from the fact that I was absolutely wasted while dancing in a maxi dress, it was also my first time to try surfing and I honestly enjoyed every minute of it. I want to go back!

4. Favorite dish that’s not from your own country?
Maki, maki, maki... and rolls of maki. I also like Gyudon. And steak. Lots of steak.

5. What’s the best travel advice you’ve received?
This came from my favorite blogger, Camie. She posted this once on her vine account, and I honestly agree 100% to this -- a traveler must invest more on experiencing the culture of the place, rather than going on an all out shopping mode. I honestly think that I'd rather spend money enjoying myself than bringing items from that particular place without fully understanding what they are for. Plus, I didn't came in there to shop. If I wanted to buy stuff, then I should've went to a mall instead.

6. If you could move to any part of the world right now, where would you go and why?
I'd love to move to Quebec because Mark is about to fly in there a couple of months from now. Plus, Canada is a nice place to be, it's more tamed than the US, and they have really nice benefits for their residents. Why not, right?

7. How did you pick your blog’s name?
This reminds me of my previous (and very hilarious) names. Prior to The Yellow Pad Chronicles, I used to go by "Infinite Abyss" at Xanga (so dramatic, right?). I decided to go by TYPC because I've been spending a whole lot of time writing my thoughts on a paper (didn't have a laptop by then). I thought that if I'd name my blog as such, I'd feel that I am free to write and share everything that I have in mind on the internet as well.

8. What is your guiltiest pleasure?
Listening to Taylor Swift. WHAT.

9. If you could meet anyone, dead or alive, who would it be?
I'd like to meet my mom's grandpa. Her stories about him are all really wonderful, and I sometimes wonder how it would be like if he'd see me as well.

10. What advice would you give someone about to start a blog?
If you want to start a blog, start one because you want to write. Don't be tempted to create a blog just because you can earn from it or because you are after all the possible "freebies" that you can get. I kind of miss the days when blogs are all about expressing, not about the events, not about the free stuff.

And now for my nominees! I nominate AnethAnneAnnaKylieRaeIrishCzaDeejAlissa, and Joana. I'm not quite sure if they have 200 followers or less, but either way, I really like their blogs and I think it would be fun to see what they think about things.

Here are my questions:

  1. What made you decide to start a blog?
  2. What motivates you to keep on blogging?
  3. What has blogging taught you?
  4. What do you love about blogging?
  5. Who are your favorite bloggers/bloggers that you look up to?
  6. Tips for those people who might want to start their own blog?
  7. What's your biggest insecurity and what do you do to get over it?
  8. If you are given $5M, what would you do with it?
  9. One thing that you've always wanted to try but never had the chance to push through.
  10. Favorite food of all time?

If you are not tagged but you feel like doing this, feel free to do it as well! You can use my questions to jump start your post. Just tell me at the comment section below so I can check out your answers, too. Would love to hear from you! Cheers!
