An Open Letter to my 2013 Self

First of all, congratulations. A pat on the back because you will survive and get over 2014 with flying colors. It will not be an easy year -- there will be bucket of tears shed, but at the end of the day, you will be proud of yourself. Proud that you were able to get your shit together and pick up the pieces that was once shattered as you go through life.

2014 will be a year of adventures. You will meet people and befriend them, and you will be able to dip your feet in a life of spontaneity. Despite your fears of interaction, you will find yourself enjoying the company of strangers, whilst bringing out another side of you that you never knew existed.

You will be able to go to different places, explore Bohol and Boracay on an unexpected trip for WIM. You'll be able to embrace Baler with your friends, and have a wonderful (and crazy) adventure in Cagbalete with your beloved. These trips will keep you happy and sane as you battle through a journey of resignations and frustrations, which you will conquer by taking the long and hard way.

2014 will be a year of soul searching. You will go through different employments, get frustrated, create resignation letters, and submit to your desire to be happy by being free. You will participate in various causes and try to focus on your writing and business, but you will not stop there. By the end of 2014, you will find yourself with a job that you like, but still with a heart craving for more. More time for life, more time for writing, more time for business. But despite your hunger for freedom, you will settle, and you will try to make the most out of what you have. The promise of learning, experience, and network will be enough for you to feel satisfied and patient for the things to come on the next years.

2014 will be a year of strength. Regardless of your internal struggles, you will find yourself standing up and making your way through the year. You will finally let go of your ex-best friend whom you've had the worse relationship. You will let go of a perfectly reasonable salary and company in search of happiness. You will let go, and you will be okay, even if you feel like you will never be fine.

You will own 2014, and you will be able to make the best out of what you have. It will never be perfect, but it will be worth it. And come the end of 2014, you will find yourself as a pretty different person. You are decent, you are loved, you are on your way to happiness, and you will find yourself stronger than you ever have been.

You will make it through. And you will be proud of what you can accomplish.

Love,
Your (December) 2014 self
